Please check requirements below before wasting money on stamps:

• Sphinx will review single-author poetry publications of between 20 and 36 pages (excluding preliminaries). This is to distinguish clearly between a slender, chapbook-type collection and a short full-collection. Apologies if your publication is too small or too large!
  
• All publications must be ISBN-numbered.
• Self-publications can be sent for review.Online pamphlet downloads will be considered but please contact first to check this out.
• Publications should be in print, available for purchase and submitted within twelve months of publication if possible.
  
• Three copies of each publication should be submitted. Poetry should be in English (or Scots) but does not necessarily have to be published in the UK.

Each publication will receive three reviews. A fourth copy will mean the Common Reader and/or Young Reader may also make comments.

The publication will receive Sphinx ‘stripes’, based on an aggregate of individual ratings from all three formal reviewers. This is in addition to the written reviews. The stripe rating can be counted on the graphic at the top of the reviews page. ‘Stripe’ rating will be based, in the first instance, on the following considerations:

• Production quality (paper, covers, ‘feel’ and design of publication).
  
• Quality of poetry.
  
• Coherence of collection as a whole.
  
• How warmly the reviewer would recommend the publication to other readers.
